Human Resources English
This course is suitable for HR professionals or managers who need to improve their ability to communicate in English on HR related issues. It is taught by Lydia Paish, who has over 20 years’ experience in employment law and advising HR teams. It includes a brief overview of UK employment law, designed to increase your HR vocabulary and your ability to use it, together with a particular focus on:
- recruitment – with practical exercises around advertising a post and holding an interview
- the terms of the employment contract – including practice in drafting, and holding a telephone call with a job candidate who wants to negotiate up a job offer
- dealing with capability, conduct and redundancy issues. Including a role play exercise where you will meet with a problem employee
- communicating with senior executives in English – prepare and deliver a presentation, and answer some difficult questions
We provide an optional visit to an Employment Tribunal in Edinburgh or Glasgow, where you can watch a Tribunal hearing and discuss it afterwards.
